The Lions Club of Romford were delighted that, we were able to operate our street collections this year as planned, around surrounding roads of Tudor Avenue, Repton Gardens Gidea Park, Swanbourne Drive, Bonnington Road, Hornchurch and The Drury Falls Estate Hornchurch/Upminster

We had a most unfortunate incident at the start of our collection on Tuesday 9 Dec in Repton Garden. Our sleigh had a tyre blown off its wheel hub. Whilst considering what to do Mrs Claus (standing in for Santa) took our portable speakers and music system and with our wonderful help form Santa’s little elves the team walked the route playing the sound whilst carrying it around. The team was joined by the sleigh about an hour later after repairs were made. A huge, big thank you to Scott from the London Fire Brigade Cadets (he is instructor and mentor) who came to our rescue and did temporary repairs to get us moving again. The evening was supported by the cadets of the London Fire Brigade and a big thank you to Lucy and her team who turned out to help us collect
